FOOTBALL BRISBANE
2011 GOLD MEDAL
EVER since the Queensland/Brisbane Roar kicked off in the inaugural A-League season, Dylan Balarezo has had a burning desire to be part of the action.
Now the Easts striker has a golden chance to turn that dream into reality after earning a training spot in the club's Youth League side.
The 17-year-old from Jamboree Heights has been selected to train with the 25-strong squad of promising juniors, with a spot in the youth squad for 2012-13 in the offing.
He is determined to grab his chance with both hands.
"It's a big opportunity for me,'' Balarezo said.
"I've got a big chance to proceed in my career. I've wanted to play for the Roar ever since they started,'' he said. ``Everyone is trying really hard to make the first team next season. It will be hard yakka this season but I'll do my best.''
While Balarezo is not yet in the top roster, youth head coach John Sime indicated there was every chance he would make his junior Roar debut sooner rather than later.
